Hyundai unveils new generation Venue — a compact crossover reimagined
Hyundai Motor officially unveiled its latest version of the subcompact crossover Venue, recognized as one of the brand's most cost-effective models across many markets. The new generation Venue features a completely overhauled avant-garde styling that aligns with Hyundai's latest design language, along with enhanced user electronic options. Notably, the lineup of powertrains has been retained from the previous model.
The 2023 Hyundai Venue is built on the original's platform and shares its chassis. The overall dimensions remain almost unchanged with a length of 4.0 meters and a wheelbase of 2.52 meters. Its exterior sees a heightened emphasis on its crossover identity, with pronounced reliefs on the fenders designed to visually widen its track, increased use of unpainted protective cladding on wheel arches, and a rugged aesthetic granted to the lower parts of the bumpers.
The multi-component headlight design, now fully LED, stands in contrast to the halogen illumination featured in the predecessor’s model.
Inside the new Venue, the interior presentation is clean and straightforward; however, the designers have taken care to strike a balance with digital integration. The car's information displays are central to the cabin, featuring a rounded 12.3-inch dual-screen setup—one for the instrument cluster and the other for multimedia—which is largely consistent with other Hyundai front-wheel-drive vehicles.
The new Hyundai Venue adds a fully functional single-zone climate control unit, with controls made up strictly of traditional buttons and knobs. There are no touch-sensitive buttons in the cabin, which reflects the company’s response to previous critiques of overly digital interiors, and even the transmission selector retains the familiar floor lever shape.
In its primary market, India, the new Venue is offered with a choice of gasoline engines: a 1.2-liter (83 hp), a 1.0-liter turbocharged option (120 hp), and a 1.5-liter diesel (116 hp). Depending on the engine and buyer preferences, gearboxes include a manual, an automatic torque converter, or a CVT. All variants feature front-wheel drive. The new Hyundai Venue will continue to be produced at the Chennai plant in India, just like its predecessor.
